| The Yellow-crowned Night Heron (Nyctanassa violacea)|
Sighted also at Boca Ciega Bay in Gulfport, Florida. This time I used ISO 400, but still shot very early in the morning with very little help from the sun. I had to use a Better Beamer, an external adapter for the flash unit used to increase the range in distance when using flash outdoors in the wild. There was no other choice shooting in this lagoon due to the fact that some of these birds were active in the very early morning. This Heron in fact is nocturnal, so it's even more active before the sun is out. I have found that flash does not bother birds if used at a respectable distance of at least 15 feet or more.
